Mystery Craft Challenge..

Hi all,
a while ago while thumbing through Instagram I saw that Jenn from
Delightfully Noted  was having a mystery craft challenge on
 her blog.

Curious me hopped over to see, and before I knew it had
signed up as one of the participants.  :)

She sent all (13 gals) the same wooden laser cut frame with a cute filigree edge.

I failed to get a picture of it before I started using it so I took this from her blog.

The winner of this challenge will receive all kind of
 wonderful Prizes

The very day my package arrived in the mail I had picked up a small wooden slice at a thrift shop for $.75 cents.

Immediately the thought of creating a 'fall forest' popped
 into my head.

I got busy creating because I knew I was going to be gone on a vacation to CA for a week.

I sewed a little wool skirt, painted the center of the wooden frame black, drilled a hole in the wood slice and added a branch, moss, and some paper flowers, and made some sculpey clay pumpkins.

After baking I painted the pumpkins and gave them wire twining's and bead leaves.  Last of all I gave them a sparkle of glitter.  My take of 'frost on the pumpkins'.

A couple of bleached, dyed, and glittered bottle brush trees and my 'fall forest' was complete and ready to be added to the base.

But it needed a little babe to wander in it.  (wink)

Yes, that's who the skirt was for.  A few days after I made my forest I found this sweet (naked) cupie doll at another thrift.  I knew she was the perfect addition to my 'fall forest'.

I dressed her and made her a fall banner to celebrate the season.  A flower garland graces her head.  I didn't want to hide that cute hair with a hat.

I sat the little scene on a plate and placed it on top of a black cake stand.  An estate sale treasure.

Oh it's just a silly little whimsical thing, but I had fun creating it and it makes me smile.  Now I am asking you , (my friends) to hop over to Delightfully Noted and vote for me.  That is if you like what I came up with.  Yup, that's how the winner of this challenge is chosen.  The voting begins on Thursday.

Voting is live now and I'd love if you'd throw a vote my way!  Here is a direct link:  http://bit.ly/VoteCraftChalnge

I'd love it if you would throw a vote my way!

And a big thanks to Jenn for putting this together!!

Bottled Blooms. . .

Well my friends, it's that time of year when many of us are busy bottling/canning the bounty of our gardens to enjoy
during the winter months.

This morning as I stepped outside to clip some black eyed Susan's to fill my large ball jar a thought crossed my mind.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could 'bottle' our garden blooms to enjoy long after our gardens have been put to sleep for the winter?

What a welcome sight they would be when we popped open that jar during the long winter months!

This afternoon I bottled my second batch of sweet pickle relish.  So yummy on hot dogs and burgers.

While it was cooking I stepped outside to bottle a few more blooms.

(roses, anemone, chive blossoms, hosta, butterfly bush, scarlet runner bean, and phlox)

These certainly won't last till winter, but I sure am enjoying them now!  I love the color of this rustic crate.  I have had it for quite a few years.  One day I spied 6 of these Ikea bottles at a thrift and they fit perfectly inside.

You know how it is once you start bottling, :)  You are on a roll and you have to do more.  In fact; peach jam is next on the agenda.

The same with my blooms, I wanted to bottle more, more, more! :)

When it comes to bottling, a cold packer is a must.  Mine is as old as the hills, but baby she still works.

This extra rack I picked up comes in handy for showing off
 pretty petals.

(daisy, snapdragon, rose of Sharon, cosmos, hydrangea, feverfew, zinnias, Dahlia ,and Russian sage)

I don't have nearly the color in my garden right now.  I was surprised when I started gathering that when they all came together it was a lovely sight.

I may not be able to bottle blooms to enjoy during the winter, but I certainly will enjoy them as long as I can!

Fall is in the air and soon they'll be but a memory.

Enjoy!!

hugs,
Jann

Share Your Cup #212

Welcome To Share Your Cup (SYC for short), the party where you share what makes you happy - it's what your hosts call
"filling your cup".

Before we look at this week's features, let's see what's been keeping your hosts busy.

Jo made a Different Pumpkin for the Patch and included
a tutorial.

Jann set a beautiful Beach Tablescape after spending time in California visiting Disneyland and playing on the beach.

I talked about being a Scatterbrained Ditz as I jump from project to project around the house.

In Win a Few, Lose a Few, I shared a project that was a total fail and then a few winners.

And now for our features, selected by Carol this week.

Isn't this Pottery Barn Look table refinished by Patti of Old Things New wonderful?

I was touched by this photo shared by Amy of
A Day of Small Things and this line from her post,
"The kitchen . . .  that is where memories happen".

I love polka dots and color so these adorable painted pieces shared by my sweet friend Connie of Crafty Home Cottage
 won my heart!

Chilled Watermelon Soup . . . and Paul McCartney by Amy of Ms. Toody Goo Shoes evoked some fun teenage memories
 of The Beatles.

I love how Penny of Penny's Vintage Home hung an old window frame in her hallway - so many fun ways to decorate it.

I'm a big fan of enamelware and I fell in love with the cute faux enamel containers shared by Brittany and Tammy of
One More Time Events.

Now it's your turn to share -be sure to grab a button
if you were featured.

A Day at the Beach Tablescape

Hello my friends,
we recently returned home from vacationing in CA.  This morning I was reminiscing about our 'day at the beach' and decided to create a tablescape with it in mind.

When we arrived we saw that many of our fine feathered friends were enjoying a stroll along the beach just as much as we were.

I draped a tan grain sack striped runner down the center of the table.  My take on the warm welcoming sand.

We could hardly wait to dip our toes in the ocean and cover them with sand!

Some even got buried in sand.

I used my red wooden chargers, a cream with a red striped plate, and a shell shaped salad plate.  I topped the trio off with a real seashell and a knotted striped napkin with a bit of rope added.  Tied in a square knot, of course.

I wish I could say that the shells were found at the beach, but no; they were found at a thrift shop.  :)  Originally from a beach,
I'm sure.

I bought this polka dotted silverware last year on clearance at Ross.  I had forgotten about it and hadn't used it yet.  I thought it added a fun touch.

We lounged and played with bubbles,

Dished up buckets of sand, and

drug treasures from the sea.

I sprinkled sea glass along the runner and added a few nautical themed items to the table.

I bought the crab festival bucket at Hobby Lobby a few years ago.  I just thought it was too cute!

I didn't end up doing this, because I only had one nautical themed beach towel.  But I thought it would be a fun idea if you had enough to drape all of your chairs.

What a fabulous day we had!  So much so, that we spent the entire day at the beach.

When Utah first met California, they ran like little sissy's.  :)

But it didn't take long before they embraced the coolness
 of the ocean!

At the end of the day hubby and I topped it off with Huntington Beaches famous fish tacos from Wahoo.

Oh, isn't life a beach?

hugs,
Jann
