Weekend Treasures!

As much as I love thrifty finds I rarely go to yard sales other than when I am out of town.  Just seems like I always have too much on the agenda.

Hubby had gone fishing this weekend so my youngest daughter, Kylee and I decided that we would hit a few sales Sat. morning.

A lot of them started at 7 so I was ready to leave the house at 6:30.  Ky had gone to a concert the night before and was too tired.

It was too early to call my sis or any friends so I headed out on my own.

Two hours and $35 dollars later I came home with treasures.

I was elated when I found this sweet thermos to add to my collection!

This sewing box was filled with lots of goodies. The box will be getting painted.

The woman that sold these watermelon dishes had mugs that matched but I passed them up.  I just have too many dishes.  Really should have passed these up also.

Cute basket, books, and a shaving brush.

I’m trying to decide what I want to do with this antique dresser.  The lady had already stripped most of the paint off.  I’m going to use it as a planter out on the deck.  Two other people tried to buy this dresser before I got it loaded in my Tahoe.

DSC01458

Great hardware on the top drawer.

DSC01463

You know how much I love old toys.  Just thought this little pinball game was cute.

DSC01461

I always have to laugh when I bring home more junk treasures.  Especially since I just had a yard sale two weeks ago. lol!

Take em out so you can bring em in. . .that’s my motto!

Pink and Purple Perfect Pair in the Garden. . .

Strolling thru the garden today and I couldn’t help but notice what a stunning pair pink and purple are together.

DSC01434

Although I didn’t actually plan this, I love the combination of pinks and purples in this grouping.

Pink Jupiters Beard, Purple Sweet Rockets, Pink Peonies, and Purple Clematis.

DSC01438

My Peonies just started opening up yesterday.  Can’t wait till there are more and I can cut a few!

DSC01436

I have three of these gorgeous double ruffled pink peonies.  Two of them put on a show and the third does absolutely nothing.  Thinking I will move it this Fall.  Guess it’s just not happy.

DSC01437

DSC01367

this beauty is growing up a small ladder.

DSC01435

Hidden under there is a rustic garden sign.

DSC01366

I love Clematis!  I have at least six of them and they are just starting to bloom.

DSC01445

More pink and purple combos.  Don’t ask me why?  But I like how this picture is fuzzy in the background and left front.

Jupiters Beard and Foxglove.

DSC01446

Sweet Williams and Variegated Iris.

DSC01450

Chives and Tri-Color Beech Tree.  Love that beautiful blue sky!

DSC01443

I was greeted with this stunning new Iris this morning.

DSC01447

Bleeding Heart and Dwarf Korean Lilac.  Just catching the tail end of the Bleeding Heart.  It has been absolutely gorgeous!

DSC01449

These Lilacs are planted at the back of our pergola.  The scent is heavenly!

I am always in awe of all the beauty the good Lord has provided for us.  Can’t help but feel close to him when you’re amongst his glorious creations!

Share Your Cup Thursday #104

Hello and welcome to Share Your Cup, (SYC for short).  The party where you share the things that make you happy.

I believe that by sharing we help to fill each others cups.  In other words, make others happy as well as ourselves.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.  Our trip to Lake Powell was fabulous!

I mean, what’s not to love when you have a view like that?

DSC01401

But of course it’s always nice to be back home.  It’s my ‘happy place’!

Now that June is approaching I am busy readying our porch and home for the summer months.

Spring décor will be tucked away for another year and out comes the summer fun.

Now let’s look at what caught my eye from last week’s party:

I love this room divider Jonni from Minnie's Milestones made out of old barn wood. It’s the perfect backdrop for her antique family cello!

Cindy from Glass Slipper Restorations created the sweetest little bench for her mud porch.

Shannon from A Southern Belle with Northern Roots shared her wonderful curbside finds.

Holiday Happenings. . .

Hello my friends, hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Oh my gosh, what a fabulous time we had at Lake Powell.  And I am asking myself, “what took you so long?”  Can you believe that I have lived in UT all of my life and this was my first time there?

Breathtaking scenery!

DSCN0400

My two oldest kids, Nichole and Lonnie go every year.  Usually twice.  Now I can see why they love it so much!

They planned this family trip and It was a big success!

A lot of happenings went on and I tried to narrow it down.  A difficult task when over 300 photos were taken. Just warning you, lots of pics.

We found a great spot for the house boat with a sandy beach for the little ones to play and rocks for the more adventurous to climb.

The stand up paddle board was tried out by kids of all ages. . .

DSCN0218

We watched the perfect boat movies like Captain Ron and Overboard.

This is only a small sampling of our delicious meals.  I must admit, I raised a family of great cooks!

We enjoyed beautiful blue skies and gorgeous sunsets.

DSC01401

But never underestimate the power of Mother Nature!

We also had dark, cloudy skies,

DSC01386

and ‘holiday hail’!

Oh my, it was coming down so hard that it sounded like rocks pelleting the boat.  I seriously thought that a window was going to break!

DSCN0167

Although we had 3 or 4 anchors out the boat started to drift.  Those that went out to help tie it down said it felt like they were being shot by bullets.  Even left a welt on Kylee’s back.

DSCN0163

DSC01392

There was time for playing games, both indoors and out, making jewelry, and snugggling.
